Our Story
We grew up in a place where kvass was always around — on hot summer days, in our grandparents’ kitchens, as part of everyday life. In Britain, we realised how much we missed it. Garna started in Dasha’s kitchen in Kingston, with homemade batches and a lot of recipe testing. Recently, we teamed up with the brilliant brewers at Bianca Road Brew Co to produce our first proper batch so you could also try it! Garna Kvass stays true to the drink we grew up with, but is reimagined for our everyday life in London.

WHAT IS KVASS?
Kvass is an old Slavic drink, dating back to medieval times. It was made across Eastern Europe and long valued as an everyday drink — refreshing, thirst-quenching, and easy to enjoy generously. Brewed from grain and shaped by fermentation, kvass is dry, refreshing and gently sour, with the kind of malt depth that makes it feel like a proper drink. Made for food, warm days, tired bodies, and all the moments when water feels too plain and soda too sweet.
Over centuries, kvass settled into tradition. Today, we bring that tradition to London.
Frequently asked questions
WHAT IS GARNA KVASS MADE FROM?
Garna is made from simple, natural ingredients: water, barley malt, rye malt, live cultures and yeast.
Does Garna Kvass contain alcohol?
Garna is naturally fermented, so it contains a tiny amount of alcohol: up to 0.5% ABV. In the UK, drinks at this level are commonly treated as alcohol-free / non-alcoholic alternatives.
When will I get my order?
We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.
Do I need to keep it refrigerated?
No, Garna is pasteurised and can be stored at room temperature before opening. We recommend serving it chilled for the best taste.
How long does it last?
Unopened, Garna lasts until the best before date printed on the can. Once opened, keep it in the fridge and enjoy within 24 hours.
Does it contain sugar?
We do not add any sugar to Garna. Any sugars in the drink come naturally from the malt and fermentation process.
Is Garna suitable for vegans?
Yes, Garna Kvass is plant-based.
Is it normal to see sediment?
A little sediment is natural in kvass and comes from the malt and fermentation process. Pour gently, or give it a light swirl if you like a fuller flavour.
